amazing bottle rockets

Hi all,

Today we did bottle rockets. The steps to making a rocket are, get and large plastic bottle, wrap paper around the bottom and body of the bottle, then make a cone and put it on the bottom, then fill it half way and put a compressor  on the top of lid. we were asked to make a prediction before we went up and launched them. are you ready to read my score. well first we have to make a prediction. Well thought my rocket would go about 20  m so lets go find out.

wow it went straight up in the air. new record 40 m. that was a long way from my prediction. here is a graph of a couple of different pockets.

I think the bottle rocket worked the best because it had easy instructions and it was not as hard to launch. for me the paper helicopter was a big fail for me because it could never get the cuts right. I don’t think i needed to make any alterations because most of the rockets worked very well. well I learnt a lot from this lesson because i learnt how to make different rockets.

My tree house

‘’Stark.’’ yells tom

‘’what’’ I yell over the sound of the burning trees blazing in the orange light.

‘’where are you.’’ he yells

‘’over here, follow the sound of my voice.’’

‘’Follow me.’’ I scream over the sound of a falling tree. ‘’

‘’I’m Right behind you.’’ We start running

‘’Hurry. If we want to make it to the tree house we will have to sprint.’’ Suddenly Tom zooms past me like a bullet.

‘’Look out.’’ I scream. Tom skids to a halt just as a flaming tree stumbled to the ground with a tremendous bang.

‘’we will have to go round.’’ I say. I look up to see almost every tree in green flames.

 

‘’Quickly were nearly there.’’ I reach the tree house and scream at the top of my lungs ‘’Fire, Fire.’’ The roof bursts into life. Alarms everywhere and sprinklers going off killing a flame that had just caught the roof. I ran for the ladder but it was engulfed in flames. ‘’Great plan stark. Now we will ever get up there.’’

‘’All’s not lost.’’ I say. I run round to the other side of the tree and say. ‘’over ride security – Stark.705’’

‘’welcome Stark.705’’I walk in and say let tom 706 in.

‘’Welcome Tom.706.’’

‘’ wow Stark how come you never told me about this’’.

‘’I don’t tell many people anything now hurry up’’.

‘’ yes we have reached the top’’ says Tom ‘’wow the tree house is a lot higher than I thought.’’ says Tom

‘’ quick it’s spreading over the whole forest. We have to do something.’’ I say ‘’ I have an idea that just might work.’’ I say. I run to the back of the room and press a bright red button that says do not press unless emergency. Suddenly two capsules land one tom and eye. We then a tunnel formed underneath us. We flew down zooming faster than the speed of light. Our cheeks flying back form the wind. We hit a corner and both go different directions before landing feet first in a very deep ball pit. We swim to the side and get out.

‘’Wow that was awesome’’ said Tom

‘’yea I know. Come on we don’t have much time.’’ I say. I run to a wall that has a bright red sign that reads:  Fire. I slam a button and the back wall moves away and a massive back pack comes out. I put my arms into the two straps and pull them tight.  I then put my arms out palms. I could feel the wooden walls on the top of my hands. Suddenly two gloves slide gently onto my hands. And tighten. I then walk forward and grab my hose from the back of my back pack. It was a little heavy but I could hold it.

‘’Come on Tom. We have to get going. Jacob is my water full?’’

‘’yes sir.’’

Tom ran to the wall and slammed the red button. Yet again a back pack came out. Tom put it on and then let his hands out. Two gloves went on and tightened.  He walked forward to me and grabbed his hose and joined me to look out the tinted window at the grey forever burning wast land. I walk over to the wooden door and push it open. Smoke started to fill the room filling our lungs like a flash flood. The room became dark. The smoke burning our eyeballs. I walk over felling my way to the opposite wall. I walk slowly to the left.  I fell something round and slam it.

Suddenly I hear the door slam closed and a noise that sounded like a massive suction pip went off.  Two minutes later the smoke was gone. It toke me a minuet for me to be able to see. I started to repeatedly blinking until I could see again.

‘’ so that’s what it does.’’ I say. I look around the dark room still half filled with smoke at the roof.

‘’Tom.’’ I managed to cough out. My throat still dry.  My head was spinning at what felt like a hundred miles an hour. I slowly walk forward and trip face first on the wooden planks. I get up and look at what I tripped on in my very blurred vision and I was able to make out an undead body that looked a lot like Tom lying at my feet unconscious.

I quickly grab a gas mask and gently place it on his face. Nothing happens until about half a minute later. I look around; most of the smoke has gone. Suddenly I hear a little cough. I look down at the looked like a life les body fifty five seconds ago. Now a fully functional body.

‘’Tom are you ok.”

‘’ yea, I think so. Just the smoke got into my lungs.’’ Says tom

‘’ ok Just keep your mask on and we’ll be ok.’’ I say. I help Tom to his feet and we walk to the door.

‘’Turn on your light or you won’t be able to see.’’ I say I open the door and put on my mask as I had forgot to. Smoke filled the room making everything dark again.

‘’Tom can you hear me.’’ I say

‘’ what who said that.’’ Says Tom.

‘’Ok relax tom it’s me and don’t scream into the microphone.’’

‘’Ow sorry.’’ he says.

‘’ that’s ok, now can you see my light?’’

‘’yea just do you want me to come to you?’’

‘’ yes exactly come to it.’’ I yell

When Tom reaches me I grabbed his hand and put it on a button on his backpack. Suddenly his backpack starts vibrating. I do the same to my backpack then we jump.

‘’Tom pull your hand into a fist and water will come out.’’

‘’ Om but we have to protect the house.’’ We both pull our hands into fists and start flying.

‘’ wow cool.’’ Says Tom. We fly to the house spraying water at every tree that was on fire extinguishing them.  We reach the house which is now fully in flames.

I hear tom crying.

‘’There dead aren’t they.’’ Says Tom

‘’ yes I think they are.’’ I say sadly. We put the fire out and land.

‘’We will have to find new parents.’’ I say

‘’Or we could live in the tree house.’’ Says Tom

‘’that’s the best idea you have come up with all day.’’ I say.

‘’Thanks. Wait what. That’s mean.’’

Henry Parkes

what up everyone,

we have been learning about Henry Parkes and federation. Our teacher told us to think of some character traits for him. here is what i came up with. ”Henry Parkes had self taught himself  so he was a very smart man. every thing we learn at school he taught himself. he was very confident, determined. He was a poet, a journalist and a political supervisor. He was very powerful. he  had long silver hair. he stopped a convict ship from landing in Australia. he created the train tracks but with all the attacks the back up was always late. and they would miss the action”. a famous speech that he said was ” what Americans can do in war Australians can do in peace.” the cheer that came up that night was heard across the nation. By this time Australia had reached 3.5 million.

Our smarts Learning Goal

My 3 way confrence

My 3 way conferences script

Hi M+D thankyou for coming. I am going to blow your mind with my smartness. Thank you for giving up your time to come and see me at my 3 way conference.

These are 3 pieces of my work that I was proud of. You may ask questions whenever you want because I am happy to answer them. This is how it is going to work. I will show you the hidden learning. I will also give you the evaluation of how I went.

Now I will show you my writing piece

  • We were given a piece of paper that told us what we had to write about this task. This box had to be in the story But not just (There is a box) It had to. We also had to come up with ideas about how to wright the story. Then we had to wright about the box, it could be anything or anywhere. The story had to have a problem and a solution. We had to describe the characters with their names and talk about the 5 W’s.

 

Hidden learning:

  • Knowing how to go from the intro up to the problem and down to the end. Remembering the structure of the story. Most people find it hard to see the hidden learning. It is the most obvious part of the learning I right myself an 8/10 because I was Thinking of something else at the time of the writing

 

Evaluation

  • I think I worked well on this task. I t was very difficult trying to think of ideas for this task. I have never been good at thinking of things under presser. The easiest part was the writing part of the story because it was already right and it was ready for us to write up. Now I will show you my story.

 

And now I will show you my Table master. Table masters is a sheet with all the times tables on it. We are given a Time limiting to wright all the answers. The best score is 143/144 and my best time is 4:23. We then have to record our Data Into our maths book (show maths book) Then We put the Data on to a graph (Show graph table masters graph 2) the graph shows that I was really bad at my times tables and I am now getting very good. I have achieved lots of thing like, I am getting better at my 11 times tables. My goal is to get better at my 7, 8, 9, and 1 2 s. I will achieve this goal at the end of term 2. I will practice in the car and whenever I can. when I first started I did not know my 11 s now I know them allot better and I can do them all. It also shows that my score was going Up and down and my time was almost the same.

 

Hidden learning

  • The hidden learning is that I learnt How to do chart titles. Making graphs and goals for TM-smart goal and how to make a goal.

 

Evaluation

  • I found this task quite easy because I after I finished all the times tables I could relatch knowing that I could finish all of the times tables under the time limit  but I still enjoyed it.

 

Now it’s time for passive energy houses

  • Working in a group we had to use 4 elements of passive energy, Thermal mass which is an object that absorbs heat, Orientation which is Witch way the house is facing, Distribution a way of blowing air around, and insulation is a way of heating, we used these elements to build a passive energy house. As a group we had to research passive energy houses, design, and plan, build test and analyse a passive energy house. (Show house)

 

Hidden learning

  • There was so much hidden learning for this task. The hidden learning for me was team work, Researching the task and learning how to use one note and passive energy.

Evaluation

  • I think I work well on this task because I was not off task much and we got the house done in time with very little mistakes. I had fun on this task because it was a hand on task. The thing I found hard was the wiring because the wires would always break. And the easy bit was the Guttering. The most interesting bit was finding out what the elements mean because I never knew what they meant at the beginning. I rate myself a 9 out of 10 because I got a little distracted

Is there any correlation between person’s height and the length of their feet?

Hi guys

Our class carried out an investigation about our shoe size and our Height. We have gathered data from all the teams that had measured their shoes and put them on a graph that you can see now.

Our team graph shows that my height is very small but my shoe length is just about the same size as Charlies shoe size. It also shows that Daniel has the biggest correlation.It also shows that the length of my shoe is longer than my height.

The fantastic flying books of Mr Morris Lessmore

Hey Guys

Today we watched a 15 min video called the fantastic flying books of Mr Morris Lessmore.

The book was about a man who lived in an ordinary town in a hotel. One day a tornado sucks his town up and drops it in a land. He starts walking and finds a girl flying from books on a leash. The girl drops a book from her arm. It was a humpty dumpty book. The Humpty dumpty book led him to and old but beautiful building. As he walked in to the building he found lots on flying books landing on shelves. As he walked down the hall he found the humpty dumpty book playing a song call pop goes the weasel. The two of them danced for a little then went to bed. The next morning the humpty dumpty book flipped mr morris lessmore out of the bed and got Mr Morris Lessmore dressed. Mr Morris Lessmore helped the little books get the breakfast. It was the ABC’s. Then he got there flying covers on and they flew strait out the window and into the sky. Later a book got Mr Morris Lessmore had to help the book. The way to heal the book was to read it. Then Mr Morris Lessmore found it was a library.  When all of his town was in colour it was time to write in his book from the beginning. He wrote about his life and coming to this land that was full of flying books. once he had finished he was old and was taken away by some flying books. The Humpty Dumpty book was very sad that he left but as he was flown away he changed back into his younger self and his book came alive and flew back to the library where the Humpty Dumpty book was waiting. then a new  girl came in and started reading the book that Mr Morris Lessmore had written. The book became the girls friend to help her life journey.

The deeper meaning or message from this story is it doesn’t matter how old a book is it can still be interesting to read, Like when Mr Morris lessmore had read the book he found it really interesting to read. One on the only ways to be happy is to read, many people arrived at the library with no colour and when they left with a book they full of colour meaning that that they were happy. And never give up on a dream even like a tornado. When his dream to become an Author was destroyed, he did not give up. When it went pop goes the weasel the character had a new idea. The journey of Mr Morris Lessmore learning how to write his book with out the help of copying from other books. he was able to share that knowledge with other people. Over though it was old it was still one of the most interesting books on the shelf. where Mr Morris Lessmore Learnt about life. from this old book he was able to write about his book about his life.
